US Embassy offers $110,093 grants to 16 NGOs

The United State (US) Embassy, on Wednesday, awarded $110,093 to 16 Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) in 10 states in response to applications to its 2017 annual programme statement, noting that the US government is committed to collaborating with the Federal Government on community development.

The US Ambassador to Nigeria, Stuart Symington, made the presentation during US Ambassador’s Small Grants Award ceremony held in Abuja.

He said: “The US is committed to working with the Federal Government in the areas of community development.

“We also have a global programme design for people living with Hiv/Aids in other to avoid Mother to child transmitted, let me also state that whatever the US government does in Nigeria is for Nigerians

“As we all know, Nigeria faces the greatest Economic challenge, a lot of people are wondering how Nigeria will go about this challenge.

To ensure the effectiveness of the funds, Symington advised the beneficiaries to make use of the funds giving to them judiciously and make profit out of it.
