1.Samuel Eto’o($90m). He is the richest player in Africa. He earns about $25m a year. The Everton player has also played for Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Chelsea and was in Anzhi-Makhachakala between 2011 and 2013. He is involved in charity and his Fundacion Privada Samuel Eto’o in Cameroon provides citizens with basic health care.
2.Didier Drogba ($70m). He has retired from international duties for his country Cote D’Ivoire. 4.Emmanuel Adebayo ($65m) The Togolese playmaker and captain of the national team plays for Tottenham Hotspurs and on loan to Real Madrid. He is generous and reported to have donated a lot of money to charity. He earned about $268,000 a week with Manchester United.
5.Michael Essien ($25m) the former Ghanaian national team captain was at a time the richest footballer in Africa, when he signed for Chelsea for $40.5m from Lyon of France. He signed a one and half year contract with AC Milan in January 2014.
6.Kolo Toure ($18m) Kolo seem to be in the twilight of his career. He has played for Arsenal, Manchester City and now Liverpool. He has a sponsorship deal with Adidas. He is one of the long serving players in the Cote D’Ivoire national team.
7.John Obi Mikel ($15m) after the sterling performance in the 2005 under 20 world cup in the Holland, he was enmeshed in a transfer controversy between Chelsea and Manchester United. He finally settled for Chelsea. His career in Europe started with Lyn of Oslo, Norway. He has a contract with Chelsea till 2017.
8.Federic Kanoute ($12m) a devout Muslim, who spent $700,000 to buy a mosque that, was to be sold in Spain. The Malian who currently plays in China for the Beijing Guoan has played for Lyon of France, West Ham in England and Sevilla in Spain.
9.Seydou Keita($10m) The Malian national team captain and former Barcelona mid fielder earned $16m before tax playing for the Dalian Aerbin fc in the Chinese super league from where he move to Valencia in Spain. In June, 2014 he signed a one year contract with Roma of Italy.
10.Christopher Samba ($8m) The Congolese defender made $160,000 a week when he signed for Anzhi- Makhachkala and he earned the same amount in Queens Park Rangers. He now plays for Dynamo Moscow.
