Rivers Guber Tribunal : APC had engaged in mere fallacy – PDP
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP ) has explained that it tendered the comprehensive voters registers used for the Rivers State Governorship to prove that the Rivers APC merely engaged in fallacy and propaganda when it presented its case at the Rivers State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal
The party further declared that it has painstakingly tendered additional accreditation incident forms for wards in different Local Government Areas of Rivers State to bring to the fore the valid return of Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.
Tendering the voters registers and accreditation incident forms used for the April 11 governorship election at the Rivers State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal on Friday, counsel to the PDP , Goddy Uche (SAN ) noted that became necessary in view of the fact that both manual accreditation and card reader accreditation were used during the governorship election.
The PDP Counsel noted that the comprehensive voters registers tendered by the party indicate the formal Electoral Process during the governorship election.
The accreditation incident forms are tagged Form EC 40J.
Uche (SAN ) said that the different election materials are being tendered by the PDP to discredit false allegations contained in the Rivers State APC petition, which the petitioner failed to support with credible evidence.
He noted that the quantum of documentary evidence being laid before the tribunal proves that the election was peacefully conducted with the necessary accreditation process duly observed in line with INEC guidelines.
He said : “The petitioner had engaged in mere fallacy earlier in this petition. What we have done is to use documentary evidence to prove that the election was credible, peaceful and successful.
“We have asked the tribunal to allow us return on Monday after sorting out all documents at our disposal. The world can see by virtue of the evidence we have adduced that Governor Wike was duly elected”.
Counsel to Rivers State APC, Akin Olujimi, SAN, objected to the admissibility of the documents, but told the Tribunal that he would offer his reasons in his final address.
Chairman of the Tribunal, Justice Suleiman Ambrosa admitted all the documents tendered by the PDP in evidence and marked them as exhibits.
He adjourned the matter to Monday for the continuation of the defence of Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike’s election by the PDP.
