President Jonathan surprised members of the Federal Executives Council when he asked them what the day represented. None of the members could put their hands on where the president was going. He reminded members of the executive council that May 6, 2010 was the first time he took oath of office as president of Nigeria.
This took all members of the executive by surprise and a prayer session was held by the Federal executive council. The minister of state for finance Yuguda said the prayer in Islam while the minister of power Chinedu Nebo said the prayer in Christianity.
At the federal executive council the minister of Education Ibrahim Shekarau also presented the award of Excellence given by the All Nigeria Federation of Principals to President Jonathan.
‘It is disingenuous to accuse everyone who calls for restructuring as trying to break up the county. History tells us that that kind of cheap blackmail will not work as long as the underlying reasons for the agitations persist.’
‘The biggest challenge seems to be that we seem to be allowing moderate voices on this issue to be drowned out by the reckless utterances of a few rabble rousers on all sides who may be tools in the hands of those who do not wish this country well. These are some of the people who arrogate to themselves the toga of spokespersons of our diverse groups.’
