AL Qaeda group that has operated in Pakistan and Afghanistan have been arrested in the Vatican. Reports say two of the nine men arrested on Friday are said to have provided protection to Osama bin Laden.
Reports monitored on BBC have it that they have been monitoring various militant groups in Italy on their links to Al Qaeda and the plan to attack the Vatican.
The group were found to be operating in Sardina and they had planned to hit the Holy See. Police issued warrant to arrest 20 of them and nine were arrested. The police says those arrested were from Pakistan and Afghanistan and they have been planning to target the Vatican since 2010.
‘It is disingenuous to accuse everyone who calls for restructuring as trying to break up the county. History tells us that that kind of cheap blackmail will not work as long as the underlying reasons for the agitations persist.’
