PDP will come back to reckoning – Fayose
The governor of Ekiti state Ayo Fayose has reiterated that members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) National Working Committee should be sacked for failing to deliver at the last general elections. According to him, there was sufficient evidence of betrayals. He said ‘let me say categorically that they can only attempt to destroy this party for the moment, not forever. Sooner than later, they will all fade away and PDP will rise again.
He accused the national chairman of the party Adamu Muazu of selling the chances of the party to the All Progressives Congress (APC). He said that his call for the resignation of the national working committee of the party was in good faith and in the overall interest of the party.
According to the statement signed by Fayose’s special assistant on public communication and new media, Lere Olayinka, ‘ How do we explain the PDP losing so scandalously in Bauchi state despite the presence of the national chairman, the FCT minister and the state governor. I am even more particular about the national chairman because he sold the party to the opposition. I have cogent evidence of this unholy alliance with the opposition before the elections and if they go any further. I will expose all his underhand deals.
‘I want to say it again that I have no apology for calling for the resignation of the NWC members especially the national chairman. After all, someone resigned his position as the national chairman for Alhaji Muazu to assume office.
The governor said ‘In saner climes, when a war commander leads his troops to an embarrassing defeat, such commander does not need anyone to tell him that he needs to leave the war front for another commander to take.
According to Fayose, ‘I have no apology on my position on the NWC because their responsibility as a party does not take away their failure in the last general elections.
On the allegation by the national publicity secretary Olisa Metuh that the party gave each state N100mn for the elections, Fayose said ‘only N30mn was received for the last two elections and to the glory of the Almighty God and support of the Ekiti people we won all the elections outright. I therefore demand the mode with which money was released to me by the NWC.
