The move by the forum is coming on the heels of a call for the dissolution of the National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party under its national chairman Alh. Adamu Muazu based on poor performance of the party during the last year general elections.
The Chairman of the Forum,Hon.liazarus Eliada GuGuwho who spoke on behalf of the group in Yola, said that after they purchased nomination forms worth millions of Naira were later denied to participate in the party’s primaries by Muazu and his cohorts without refunding their money.
Hon GuGuwho, an aspirant for the Southern senatorial seat expressed disappointment with the party for not making any efforts to pacify them or engaged them in dialogue despite the huge resources they expanded adding that his group will get justice in the court of law.
He explained that, they have been working for over a year, Criss crossing all the nook and cranny of their various constituencies using their hard earned resources culminating into purchase of party nomination forms and other campaign expenses only to be denied participation in the election and without the party deeming it fit to refund their money and other campaign expenses they incurred.
According to him, the decision to challenge the party in the court is a collective decision geared towards sanitising the polity and the country democracy inline with the principle of fairness and social justice.
The former lawmakers in the defunct Gongola state said that, if this injustice meted out to them is left unchecked it will encouraged party leaders to continue with their act of impunity and injustice which will continue to affect the party negatively and encourage others to do the same.
He also noted that, since primaries did not hold they expect the party to refund back their money and all other expenses they incurred in the process and apologize but none of this was done.
The former PDP senatorial aspirant also called on President Goodluck Jonathan and other party stakeholders to intervene to save the party from total collapse.
‘It is disingenuous to accuse everyone who calls for restructuring as trying to break up the county. History tells us that that kind of cheap blackmail will not work as long as the underlying reasons for the agitations persist.’
‘The biggest challenge seems to be that we seem to be allowing moderate voices on this issue to be drowned out by the reckless utterances of a few rabble rousers on all sides who may be tools in the hands of those who do not wish this country well. These are some of the people who arrogate to themselves the toga of spokespersons of our diverse groups.’
