Kugama who was reacting to the outcome of the court proceedings of the Yola High court which fixed may 22 for the ruling of a case filled by Nyako challenging his impeachment by the Adamawa State House of Assembly, said that the ousted Governor Murtala Nyako would be proved right by the nation’s legal system. He said that due process was not follow before he was impeached..
Kugama who is a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress, and staunch loyalist of the former Governor said that all Nyako loyalists were happy since the D-day has been set and they would keep faith with it and hoping that “even if it was for one day let the courts vindicate the former Governor by quashing his impeachment”.
Kugama said himself and all other good people of the state hope and pray that even if it was for just 24 hours let the courts reinstate Murtala Nyako back to the office of Governor, adding that just that alone would be seen as justice. He said his impeachment was done in gross violation of his fundamental right to fair hearing.
“To fear the world US has led for the better part of a century, abandon the ideals we have advanced around the globe and refuse the obligations of international leadership… for the sake of some half-baked, spurious nationalism cooked up by people who would rather find scapegoats than solving problems is unpatriotic. “
