Norway wants credible polls in Nigeria

Ahead of the forthcoming general elections, the Norway Ambassador to Nigeria Mr ,Mr  Rolf Ree  has disclosed that his country dream is to see  free and credible  elections  held  on March 28 and April 11, in the nation.

Mr  Rolf Ree, lauded the efforts being put in place by the Nigerian government and the political class in  establishing a durable democracy with the use of card readers.

Ree,who was a Guest Lecturer,at the American  University of Nigeria,AUN,Yola,with the title  ,Stock fish, Sovereign Wealth  fund and Diplomacy,said that Nigeria is the centre piece of African and building on its electoral process with the use of electronic system would in no small way strengthen Nigeria’s democracy.

He explained that Norway respect the sovereignty of any nation’s to handle its internal affairs  stressing  that the coming general polls is been seen as internal affair of Nigeria but charged INEC to stick to the rules of the game by being objective  and allow the voice of  the majority to be heard.

The ambassador who was  answering questions from reporters on the views of his country over the coming polls said” Norway will not like to dive into the internal affairs of Nigeria.

“No ambassador will involve himself in internal affairs of the host country but our wishes is that INEC should conduct free and fair polls which will be rancour free, he said.

” We charge all politicians to take the outcome of the elections in a good faith in the interest of the nation”

He explained that Norway is a nation with a Population of over Five Million and has contributed to global peace and economic development  through Stock fish, Sovereign Wealth  fund and Diplomacy

According to him Norway is home to the best negotiators and  is also the  home of Nobel prizes”1814 Norway received peace prize”
