Boxing legend Mohammad Ali has said he did not predict that Manny Pacquiao will defeat Floyd May weather. He said he is not in the business of prediction. Many Pacquiaoo will meet Floyd May weather on May2 in what has been regarded as a mega fight.
According to Mohammad Ali’s daughter Rasheda, ‘He knows Manny’s a great fighter… but it’s more about what he does outside the ring. He’s such a charitable person.’
Mohammad Ali centre website on Thursday denied that the champion was backing either fighter. ‘Mohammad Ali would like to wish both Floyd May weather and Manny Pacquiao well in their upcoming fight on May2.’ The statement also says ‘Mohammad never offered to anyone his prediction on the fight information that was published earlier this week and picked up by other media is either a misquote or someone else’s personal opinion. The stories saying that Mohammad Ali has chosen a favourite in the fight are false.’
Ali who turned 73 in January has battled with Parkinson’s disease for decades have not attended a fight in years. The upcoming fight has taken 5years in coming. ‘Mohammad Ali has the utmost respect for both fighters who will undoubtedly give boxing fans an incredible match. He believes the significance of this fight will rival other historic matches. Muhammad Ali will join the rest of the world on May 2 to watch this match-up.’
‘It is disingenuous to accuse everyone who calls for restructuring as trying to break up the county. History tells us that that kind of cheap blackmail will not work as long as the underlying reasons for the agitations persist.’
‘The biggest challenge seems to be that we seem to be allowing moderate voices on this issue to be drowned out by the reckless utterances of a few rabble rousers on all sides who may be tools in the hands of those who do not wish this country well. These are some of the people who arrogate to themselves the toga of spokespersons of our diverse groups.’
