Military to clear remnants of terror group soon-Olukolade
The director of defence information major general Chris Olukolade has assured Nigerians that they would soon clear the whole territory of what is left of the terrorist group Boko Haram. He asked for the support of Nigerians to ensure that they achieved their goal of clearing the terrorists out of our territory.
Major general Chris Olukolade, who took the media on a tour of Gwoza and its surrounding communities, said there are very few areas left to be completely wiping the terrorists out of Nigeria. According to him, ‘ any moment from now, Bita operation will be completed. So you see that the advance is still continuing and the tempo of the mission is high and we are really in the final phase of the mission.
He told the media that the tour is a confirmation of the normalcy in the territory they have captured. He added ‘what we should be doing is consolidating on the level of synergy in this mission. You can see that the coordination among the armed forces had really improved. And it is responsible for the success of the mission lately, and you also see that collaboration with other security agencies had made a lot of impact on the successes recorded.
‘We should sustain it so that subsequently since incidents should not develop at all. The area left to be captured are very minimal and what is important now is the stabilisation of the territories taken back and the mopping up operations, cordon and search are on-going. He assured the media that with the level of cooperation with the multi -national joint task force; it will be difficult for the terrorists to regroup.
