Members of Kofare “A” Ward in Yola South Local Government Area of Adamawa, have dragged the state Deputy Governor, Sa’ad M.C Tahir, to the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) for alleged blockage of access way to the ward thereby causing untold hardship to residents.

In a petition addressed to the chairman of ICPC by counsel to the community, Augustine Sambo Esq of Yelli Chambers, the community accused the Deputy Governor of using his office to take over the land which they noted initially belong to him but was taken from him by government three years ago on grounds of overriding public interest which resulted in paying him compensation by the then Nyako administration.

” Sir, it will be recalled that sometimes in February 2012, the Kofare Ward community made a complaint to the Ministry of Land and Survey concerning the difficulty the community was having regarding easement from the area through to the Numan road in Jimeta-Yola.

” The Ministry of Land and Survey, upon the receipt of the community’s complaint, set up a committee to access compensation to be paid to the owner of the plot of land on grounds of overriding public interest.

” The Adamawa State Government conveyed approval for the creation of right of easement on the property owned by Sa’ad M.C Tahir”, the petition said.

It noted that on 6th March 2012, the Ministry of Land and Survey fowarded a detailed assessment for compensation to the tune of N3,617,600 to Tahir who was duly paid.

” His Excellency, Sa’ad Tahir, soon upon his appointment to the office of the Deputy Governor of Adamawa state have used the instrumentality of his office to close the access-way, which was granted by the Government of Adamawa state after due administrative process”, the petition stated.

The petition which sought among others that ICPC should intervene to make the Deputy Governor realized that his action was unilateral and abuse of the use of instrument of power, noted that the deputy governor has rejected repeated entreaties made to him by members of Kofare Community to rescind his action of blocking the access way.
