President Goodluck Jonathan has ordered the closure of all borders from midnight on Wednesday for the period of the elections. He ordered the immigration service to ensure that non Nigerians are not allowed to vote.
In a press release signed by the permanent secretary in the ministry of internal affairs, Abubakar Magaji, on behalf of the minister comrade Abba Moro, he noted that the closure of the borders is necessary to allow for the peaceful conduct of the general elections.
“IPOB is being sponsored by those I will call the Coalition of the politically disgruntled and the treasury looters. They believe that by sponsoring this group to destabilize the country and trigger chaos, they will realize their ambition of escaping justice and then be free to dip their hands into the nation’s treasury again.”
