Blake Shelton has done a lot of talk shows throughout his long and successful career. But he’s never experienced a moment like he did on ‘Late Night’ (Weeknights, 12:37AM ET on NBC). He might have thought it odd when Jimmy Fallon told him he had a few more questions, but we know he was shocked when Fallon started asking them.
Abrupty, and with the accompaniment of The Roots, Fallon stood and started singing a slightly modified version of ‘The Pina Colada Song.’ “Do you like pina coladas?” he sang, and abruptly sat down.
Shelton looked stunned and started looking around like he didn’t know what was going on, and then Fallon simply stood and continued, asking him, “And getting caught in the rain? Do you like making love at midnight?”
Finally, he got Shelton to join in the song, and the pair just kept on going with it until we cut to commercial break. It was one of the most genuinely entertaining musical performances on a talk show in a long time.
‘It is disingenuous to accuse everyone who calls for restructuring as trying to break up the county. History tells us that that kind of cheap blackmail will not work as long as the underlying reasons for the agitations persist.’
‘The biggest challenge seems to be that we seem to be allowing moderate voices on this issue to be drowned out by the reckless utterances of a few rabble rousers on all sides who may be tools in the hands of those who do not wish this country well. These are some of the people who arrogate to themselves the toga of spokespersons of our diverse groups.’
