President Goodluck Jonathan who was said to have been embarrassed by the leaked recording of his conversation with the President –Elect Muhammadu Buhari ha told the media that he will peak on the last presidential election at the appropriate time. There are speculations that the leak may have come from the camp of the president –elect as his aides could have decided to record what the discussion will be about.
This was after the service at the state house chapel where he was urged to remain focus as his future is in the hands of God.
Meanwhile, the president has started the process of gradual disengagement. He held a preliminary discussion with the president –elect Muhammadu Buhari to discuss how the transition team will handle the process. The meeting was held at the new banquet hall at the state house and had in attendance the former military head of state and chairman of the national peace committee, General Abdulsalam Abubakar and the chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC John Oyegun. The meeting lasted for about 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, vehicles were seen moving the personal effects of the president out of the villa. It was not clear where the items are been moved to.
‘It is disingenuous to accuse everyone who calls for restructuring as trying to break up the county. History tells us that that kind of cheap blackmail will not work as long as the underlying reasons for the agitations persist.’
‘The biggest challenge seems to be that we seem to be allowing moderate voices on this issue to be drowned out by the reckless utterances of a few rabble rousers on all sides who may be tools in the hands of those who do not wish this country well. These are some of the people who arrogate to themselves the toga of spokespersons of our diverse groups.’
