I will ‘surely win’ – Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan told the British Broadcasting Corporation, BBC that he is sure of victory in next Saturday Presidential election, as his party, the People Democratic Party, PDP is ‘still the strongest party’. On the level of violence and the threat of the terrorist group, Boko Haram, President Jonathan said he accepts responsibility for the violence as the President of the country. According to him, whatever goes wrong in the country , I take responsibility and when things goes right, I also take the glory.

The president also said ’I’m very hopeful that it will not take us more than a month to recover the old territories that hitherto have been in Boko Haram’s hand’.  ‘ We never expected that Boko Haram will build up that kind of capacity. We under-rated their external influence. Since after the civil war , we have  not fought any war, we do not manufacture weapons, so we had to look for help to re-equip our army and the air force’.

On the Chibok girls, Jonathan expressed optimism that the 219 school girls  were still alive.  The President said ‘we have not seen dead girls. That is the good news. I believe they are alive, I believe we will get them’.
