A statement by Phineas Elisha, the Director Public Affairs to the Gov Ngilari said that the electorates and politicians in the state deserve commendation for the patriotism and maturity shown during the elections.
He observed that while there were violence in some states, the electorates in Adamawa showed maturity and conducted themselves orderly and voted peacefully while the politicians exhibited the spirit of sportsmanship by accepting the outcome in good faith.
” Our candidate of the PDP, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu showed exemplary sportsmanship by conceding defeat before the announcement of the result.
” Ribadu emulated President Jonathan who took the lead in showing Nigerians how to place the the peace and progress of the nation above personal interest”, the statement said.
While stressing the need to sustain the tempo, the statement congratulated the new governor elect and urged him to embrace all in the project of transforming the state.
‘It is disingenuous to accuse everyone who calls for restructuring as trying to break up the county. History tells us that that kind of cheap blackmail will not work as long as the underlying reasons for the agitations persist.’
‘The biggest challenge seems to be that we seem to be allowing moderate voices on this issue to be drowned out by the reckless utterances of a few rabble rousers on all sides who may be tools in the hands of those who do not wish this country well. These are some of the people who arrogate to themselves the toga of spokespersons of our diverse groups.’
