The Commandant General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu, has reassured Corps personnel that their interest and welfare is paramount to his administration. He stated this at the Corps National Headquarters, Abuja while briefing personnel on the need to dispel rumours making the round by fraudsters that the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps is recruiting underground and carrying out replacement exercise.
While commending the personnel for their unwavering loyalty and unalloyed commitment to the mandates of the Corps, the CG reiterated his commitment to stand by every personnel during emergency situations. Adding that everyone is provided with life insurance cover considering the dangerous terrains officers and men are deployed to secure the nation and the attendant risk involved in securing critical infrastructure and national assets where many personnel have lost their lives in active service.
Abdullahi explained further that, as part of his obligation to staff, he paid a condolence visit to families of some personnel who died while in active service in Rivers, Lagos, Akwa Ibom, Edo, FCT, and other parts of the country but the situation he met on ground was not palatable as most of the deceased personnel were said to be breadwinners of their families.
Gana stressed that, the situation touched him as a person and he felt that no amount of money given to their family members at that moment could last forever or bring back their wards, rather, empowering the family by replacing the deceased with a family member will go a long way in restoring the lost hope. He therefore directed the various families to submit names of those to be used as replacement for the deceased personnel when the Corps is to recruit.
The Corps helmsman seize the occasion to charge desperate job seekers and the general public to always ascertain the veracity of any news regarding recruitment from the Corps, that fraudsters have adopted the strategy of disseminating false information on social media and through text messages to defraud unsuspecting applicants of their hard earned money.
He cautioned applicants to exercise patience and wait for the appropriate time the Corps will advertise its existing vacancies in major National Newspapers.
“IPOB is being sponsored by those I will call the Coalition of the politically disgruntled and the treasury looters. They believe that by sponsoring this group to destabilize the country and trigger chaos, they will realize their ambition of escaping justice and then be free to dip their hands into the nation’s treasury again.”
