Early Saturday morning, President Good luck Jonathan and mother voted at the Otueke polling unit 039 and the card reader works. He said as a nation we are happy that the elections have gone well. He said citizens must change government properly as we must do elections every four years.
On the poor voters turn out, president Jonathan attributed the poor voter turnout in Bayelsa state to the fact that there was no governorship election in the state. He said the election to the state house of assembly which was held in the does not attract much enthusiasm.
According to president Jonathan, ‘I am happy that I have done my civic duty and I expect you all to do the same. If you do not vote then you are not patriotic. He said as a nation we must respect the law. He also said that he was sure the PDP will do well in the elections.
Meanwhile, the governor of Bayelsa state Seriake Dickson was unable to vote due to what INEC called mix-up in sensitive material. Election in Sagbama,Ekeremor and Southern Ijaw has been postponed to next Saturday 18,April,2015. The deputy governor who voted in Nembe had an initial difficulty with the card reader but was ultimately able to vote.
‘It is disingenuous to accuse everyone who calls for restructuring as trying to break up the county. History tells us that that kind of cheap blackmail will not work as long as the underlying reasons for the agitations persist.’
