The Adamawa State supervising National Commissioner of INEC ,Engnr.Dr Nuru A. Yakubu ,who presented the certificates of return to them, reminded them that power belongs to God and he gives to whom wish.
Yakubu described them as part of a wind of change and much is expected by their people,as executive and legislative levels of government.
The supervising commissioner assured Nigerians that INEC has changed significantly over the last four and half years under leadership of its chairman Professor Attahiru Mohammed Jega.
Adding,”with the gradual use of technology and reform of the electoral process, commitment to the rule of law, steadfast and focus,we have now reached a level where we can say your votes have not only been counted but that they have also counted”
” The confidence that Nigerians have reposed in INEC must also grow .The impact of the conduct of the elections continue to reverberate within and beyond our borders.”
He said the commission was delighted with the commendations it received from many countries and organizations across the world about the feats recorded in the last elections.
” Our embassy officials now hold their heads up with pride throughout the democratic world” Yakubu said
Adamawa State Governor-elect, Senator Mohammed Umaru Jibrilla Bindow, who was among those that were presented with certificate, lauded the INEC for improvement recorded in the last elections and appealed to the public to accord those elected the needed support to succeed.
‘It is disingenuous to accuse everyone who calls for restructuring as trying to break up the county. History tells us that that kind of cheap blackmail will not work as long as the underlying reasons for the agitations persist.’
‘The biggest challenge seems to be that we seem to be allowing moderate voices on this issue to be drowned out by the reckless utterances of a few rabble rousers on all sides who may be tools in the hands of those who do not wish this country well. These are some of the people who arrogate to themselves the toga of spokespersons of our diverse groups.’
