The national publicity secretary of the PDP have raised alarm that the opposition APC is conniving with the security agencies to thwart the will of the people. Though he said the election in Imo has gone very well, he warned that there are areas where the governor, Rochas Okorocha and the security agents are planning to thwart the process.
He also said that the governor of Ogun state ,Ibikunle Amosun has taken election material to Otta in an attempt to change the results where PDP of winning. He added that there is desperation by APC to change the will of the people in Ogun, Lagos and some parts of the north.
He further said that while they agreed to play fair, they expect APC to play fair.
He said voting material was hijacked by the governor of Anambra, Willie Obiano to change the will of the people. He said agents of the governor were seen carrying ballot boxes. That the police had rushed to Ifeanyi Ubah’s house only to find him at home after the governor had misinformed the police that Ubah was out trying the change ballot boxes.
Olisa Metuh decried the APC’s attempts to change what democracy is. He said the PDP conceded defeat when they lost the presidential election and they expect the APC to concede defeat when the results of the elections are released.
Meanwhile, the governor of Ogun state, Ibukunle Amosun responded by saying he was in the government house situation room in Abeokuta monitoring the election which he said they are winning. He said if indeed Olisa Metuh made those statements, then we have problems in the country. He said if it about this election, ‘we have won it. It is a landslide victory.’ He advised Metuh not to include Ogun state in his pranks.
He also complained that it took some time for the card reader to accredit him as over 650,000 people who could not collect their PVCs in the state were denied the opportunity to vote.
‘It is disingenuous to accuse everyone who calls for restructuring as trying to break up the county. History tells us that that kind of cheap blackmail will not work as long as the underlying reasons for the agitations persist.’
‘The biggest challenge seems to be that we seem to be allowing moderate voices on this issue to be drowned out by the reckless utterances of a few rabble rousers on all sides who may be tools in the hands of those who do not wish this country well. These are some of the people who arrogate to themselves the toga of spokespersons of our diverse groups.’
