The candidates comprising that of Mega Progressive Peoples Party (MPPP), National Conscience Party (NCP), All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) and KOWA Party (KP) at a press briefing in Yola said they decided to abandoned their ambition and work for Ribadu in the interest of the state.
Their statement which was read by the Gubernatorial Candidate of MPPP, Abdulnasir Umar, said their action was out of concern to ensure that Adamawa has the best as governor.
“Our decision was compelled by our desire to put in place a credible government that Adamawa people can be proud of.
” We shall work hand-in-hand in installing a credible and reliable government that would move Adamawa state forward.” the statement said.
Responding on behalf of Ribadu Campaign Organization, the Secretary of the organization, Alhaji Saidu Haladu, described the development as a huge step that further strengthens the chances of Ribadu.
” This development and other endorsements by groups and associations in the state further brighten the chances of Ribadu as well as confirm the fact that PDP is the party to beat in Adamawa,” Haladu said.
‘It is disingenuous to accuse everyone who calls for restructuring as trying to break up the county. History tells us that that kind of cheap blackmail will not work as long as the underlying reasons for the agitations persist.’
‘The biggest challenge seems to be that we seem to be allowing moderate voices on this issue to be drowned out by the reckless utterances of a few rabble rousers on all sides who may be tools in the hands of those who do not wish this country well. These are some of the people who arrogate to themselves the toga of spokespersons of our diverse groups.’
