The Nigerian Governors forum have asked the Minister of Finance and coordinating Minister for the Economy, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala to account for $20bn excess crude account from 2013 to 2015. Speaking after the meeting of the Nigerian Governors forum in Abuja, Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers state who chaired crisis ridden Governors forum and later became a factional chairman said the governors have asked the finance minister to account for the $20bn that was accrued to the excess crude account between 2013 and 2015. He replaces Governor Rotimi Amaechi who has been the factional leader of the Governors Forum in the last two years. He was a consensus candidate as he was deputy to Amaechi in the Governors Forum. It seem the 36 state Governors have decided to put aside their differences as Governor Babangida Aliyu had predicted when addressing the media at the Northern Governors forum. He said they will be going to the National Governors Forum to resolve the differences that may exist among the Governors. Governor Abdul-Aziz Yari according to Governor Amaechi will serve for one year.

He added that the forum also appreciated President Goodluck Jonathan for his show of statesmanship by conceding defeat even before the final results were announced.
Meanwhile, Governor Babangida Aliyu of Niger state who was also relinquishing his position as chairman of C He said the Governor will serve for two years. He said the new leadership will be inaugurated in June or July where all former Governors of Northern extraction are expected to attend. Governor Aliyu had said they were determined to mediate and unite Governors across party lines for the development of the nation. He said they also agreed to address the problem of Boko Haram and the issue of poverty, unemployment and marginalisation in the North.
Governor Shettima appreciated his colleagues for making him the chairman of the Northern Governors Forum. He said that he is not the chairman of the APC Governor but all Governors of the North. He said will unite with his colleagues to tackle the problem of Boko Haram and the challenges of underdevelopment in the North.
"They called Goodluck Jonathan, who gave you YouWIN and SURE-P, and PRESSID Scholarships clueless. So what do we call APC that gives you wheelbarrow? They said GEJ was tribalistic yet his NSA, CDS, IGP, CNS, CGP and minister of defense were from the North. So what do we say of President Muhammadu Buhari whose DG DSS is from his own hometown and whose Minister of Defense, Chief of Army Staff, Chief of Air Staff, NSA, IGP, CGP, CGI, CGP are all from his Northern Region? You see, no matter how far falsehood has travelled, it must eventually be overtaken by truth!"
