…As agency’s DG meets stakeholders
Three male suicide bombers who attempted to enter some locations in the University of Maiduguri, Borno State, at early hours of today, Friday, have died of the explosion, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has said.
The dead bombers were intercepted by the university’s security agents and vigilantes in the area.
According to the Head Media and Public Relations Officer of the NEMA, Sani Datti, immediately they detonated their explosives strapped in them, two university’s security agent and two vigilantes got injured.
“This happened when the new DG NEMA Engr. Mustapaha Maihaja is in Maiduguri to meet directly with IDP leaders and stakeholders to discuss ways forward in responding to humanitarian needs of the affected persons,” he said.
He said the remains of the three suicide bombers were evacuated to Specialists Hospital in Maiduguri.
‘It is disingenuous to accuse everyone who calls for restructuring as trying to break up the county. History tells us that that kind of cheap blackmail will not work as long as the underlying reasons for the agitations persist.’
