There are indications that the frosty relations between the Senate and the Presidency may soon end. This follows the promotion of the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Ibrahim Magu by the Police Service Commission. Magu was recently promoted to the rank of Commissioner of Police, although his last promotion to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police was a year ago.
The Senate felt comfortable endorsing the promotion knowing that it will help ease Magu out of the EFCC. Magu’s confirmation as Chairman of EFCC has remained in contention and a source of conflict between the Senate and the Presidency.
Magu, will by the appointment, proceed to the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru , near Jos , Plateau State for the Senior Executive Course.
