The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has carried out another successful attack against the Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs).

The latest attack by the Alpha Jet, according to a statement by the Director of Public Relations & Information, Group Captain Ayodele Famuyiwa, on Friday, was against a gathering of BHTs at the fringe of the Sambisa Forest, and about 11km away from Bama, Borno State.

“Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance report before the attack suggests that the terrorists may be gathering for the purpose of launching a major attack. It is believed therefore that the latest attack is another blow against the insurgents. The video clip of the Battle Damage Assessment is enclosed herewith,” it said.

Meanwhile, the attention of the NAF has been drawn to the media report on an incident in Edo State where a woman, Mrs Joy Agboghide, was purportedly beaten up by military personnel attached to the Benin Electricity Distribution Company.

The NAF is completely taken aback by the press statement credited to the Public Relations Officer of 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Captain Jonathan Unuakhalu, that the person who directed that the woman should be beaten up is not of the Army but the Air Force.

“Investigation with 4 Brigade revealed that the supposed officer in question had claimed to be Air Commodore Azeman Adekaye. This statement is rather unfortunate as there is no one, whether serving or retired, with such name in the NAF.

“Whereas Captain Jonathan Unuakhalu, or any of the military personnel at the point of the incident, did not make any effort to authenticate the claim by the alleged impostor, it is quite unfortunate that the remarks attributed to Captain Jonathan Unuakhalu has put the NAF in bad light before the public.

“The NAF, therefore, wishes to debunk this claim and also like to appeal to members of the public with useful information about the where about of the alleged impostor to avail her of such,” the statement reads.]]>
