The Canadian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development, Rob Nicholson, gave the charge in a statement released on Tuesday, by the country’s high commission in Abuja.
“The professionalism and impartiality of security agencies during and after the elections is paramount,” he said.
The statement reads in full that “As Nigeria prepares to hold presidential, legislative and state elections in the coming weeks, Canada urges Nigeria to take all necessary steps to ensure that the elections arepeaceful, free, fair and credible.
“To fear the world US has led for the better part of a century, abandon the ideals we have advanced around the globe and refuse the obligations of international leadership… for the sake of some half-baked, spurious nationalism cooked up by people who would rather find scapegoats than solving problems is unpatriotic. “
