Two persons were confirmed killed in fire incidents in Adamawa in 2014.
Alhaji Abdullahi Adamu , the state Director fire services made this known to Newsmen in Yola on Monday
Adamu said that ten people and property worth twenty five million Naira were saved from the fire disaster in the year under review.
” In 2014 fire incidents , two persons killed, while 10 people were safe across the state.” Adamu said.
He said that in the year under review a total of 102 fire incidents were recorded across the state with the Yola North ( Jimeta) Local Government Area leading with sixty five incidents.
On the fire safety revenue generation, he said that the total target of 2014 was five million naira but due to insecurity challenges it was able to realize only two million naira .
” Last year, five officers were sent on a course for fire manship training to enable them pick up with modern fire fighting techniques.” Adamu added.
He complained of lack of cooperation and support from people especially while on duty to quench fire outbreak.
Adamu identified lack of functional fire fightimg equipment both in the headquarters and three other sub stations in the state as among the major constraints affecting effective service delivery of the department.
